This past weekend as working on Arab World Fest where freepali.com was sponsoring Shadia Mansour, I was heartbroken as I heard about the tragic loss of the great Palestinian artist, Mahmoud Darwish.

One of the greatest contemporary artists and a true intellectual, Mahmoud Darwish, who was born in Palestine in a village later destroyed by the Israeli’s brought attention to the Palestinians all over the world and their cause as he gave a voice to all Palestinians and the suffering they endure at the hands of the brutal Israeli occupation.  His poetry is commonly heard in music as entertainers sing his poetry as their lyrics.

Mahmoud Darwish will truly be missed by all.
